FLY IN SCHOOL – Workshop and Performance at School or College

An active multimedia workshop of approximately 60 minutes, where students are visually challenged right to the edge of their seats.

With FLY IN SCHOOL, volDaan Theater brings a unique combination of visual theater and imagination into your school. Students are not only spectators but also researchers and artists. Through short, playful exercises, they learn to look differently and to discover new perspectives. Together, we create new images and sounds, forming our own unique scenes.

During the workshop, the 15-minute performance FLY is presented twice — a setup that in itself offers a surprisingly fresh perspective, usually reserved for professionals and true theater enthusiasts. The first time, students experience the performance openly and intuitively, purely through feeling and wonder. After a short reflection and a few creative tasks, they watch it again with more awareness: what did they miss the first time? What changed their perspective? And how does what you see influence what you think you see?

Between the two performances, students actively work with the artists, exploring imagination, play, and the manipulation of images. They also take part in creating sound, experiencing the power of imagination even more deeply. In this way, they discover how theater — with few words but a wealth of imagination — can reflect and reshape the world around them.

FLY is bold, technical, and poetic: exciting, beautiful, energetic, and full of wonder. A performance that challenges young audiences to explore, to feel, and to see with new eyes. Without condescension. Without words. But full of imagination.

Daan Mathot of volDaan Theater brings many years of experience in (music) workshops and in working with children and young people. From the start of his career, he has been passionate about creating with kids and youth. He has worked as a workshop leader in both small and large schools across the Netherlands for Fort van de Verbeelding, and still occasionally collaborates with the musicians of Superjam!

Practical note:
The workshops are preferably held in a dimmable space that is easily accessible (ideally on the ground floor with a wide door).
